Susan J. Eddington, PhD
Scholar-Practitioner at the Intersection of Media, Mind, and Message
Dr. Susan J. Eddington is a distinguished media psychologist, award-winning management consultant, and accredited public relations counselor (APR) who has spent more than thirty years studying and shaping how information impacts human behavior. Her career bridges the gap between psychological research and high-stakes, real-world application, working extensively across the corporate, non-profit, and federal sectors. Whether advising senior leadership teams, managing large-scale military support programs, or designing digital literacy frameworks, Dr. Eddington focuses on strengthening cognitive resilience, managing human risk, and preserving narrative integrity in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
Her deep expertise in public strategy and government relations was established on some of the nation's most visible stages. Dr. Eddington has developed integrated communications strategies and served as an official national media spokesperson for three winning U.S. presidential campaigns, frequently addressing national audiences and conducting critical policy briefings for congressional leaders. This extensive background in public affairs is matched by a robust footprint within federal contracting. As the founder and CEO of IMAGES-IMAGES, Inc., she has guided major initiatives for agencies such as the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Department of Defense (DoD), including collaborating as a subcontractor with Northrop Grumman to implement the global Defense Integrated Management and Human Resources System (DIMHRS).
Dr. Eddington's leadership style blends operational efficiency with a commitment to systemic equity and compliance. While working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), she facilitated crucial training programs and developed strategic recommendations to help state, county, and city grant recipients meet diversity goals for sub-contracts awarded to minority, women, and disadvantaged business owners—an initiative that earned her firm national recognition from the EPA as an Outstanding MBE. Her capacity for organizational transformation was further demonstrated when she served as a prime contractor managing the Fleet & Family Support Center for Naval Support Activity (NOLA). Under her direction, the center provided comprehensive clinical counseling, marketing, and training services for military personnel and their families, ultimately driving a tremendous improvement in program participation and clinical caseload management.
As a scholar-practitioner, Dr. Eddington is deeply invested in understanding media effects, identity formation, and inter-group relations. Her academic contributions include serving as the Past President and National Conference Chair for the Society for Media Psychology and Technology (Division 46 of the American Psychological Association). She is also a Fellow of the Institute for Social Innovation and an Alumna Fellow of the Marie Fielder Center for Democracy, Leadership & Education at Fielding Graduate University, where she earned both her Master’s degree in Media Psychology and her PhD in Psychology with a Media emphasis. Her foundational academic roots trace back to Southern University and A&M College, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Journalism and Political Science.
Today, Dr. Eddington continues to apply her research to contemporary societal challenges, particularly the psychological strains of the modern internet. Through her proprietary training framework, Digi-Lit™, she designs media and digital literacy programs that help corporate executives, students, and the general public combat digital fatigue and cognitive overload. Her forward-looking work also encompasses immersive media technology, where she develops applied AR/VR/Mixed Reality solutions and behavioral research models. Guided by a lifelong commitment to public empowerment, she established the Center for the Study of Media, Technology & More. Dr. Eddington is dedicated to providing communities with the tools they need to safely navigate hyper-connected environments. From her early civic contributions—which include a presidential appointment by President George H.W. Bush to the Advisory Board of the African Development Foundation—to her ongoing media productions exploring sustainable tourism and post-disaster community recovery, Dr. Eddington continues to champion communication as a powerful catalyst for human connection and collective agency.
